As experienced teachers know, in order to maximize students learning gain, it is essential to design activities that are challenging in a FUN environment with a HIGH degree of reflective practice.
Our 5P system is the natural way that teachers incorporate and teach their content in the classroom, however, we are placing a LARGE emphasis on teacher skill development.
Our 5 P system stands for:
PLAN:
– Plan what core concepts you would like to educate the children about.
PREPARE:
– Once you have access to the 5P area, watch and participate with the hands-on activities to prepare your skills, enhance your knowledge and get ready for great science learning.
– Web understand that being a teacher in front of a class means you need GREAT preparation which make you feel more confident. It also means, you make the learning environment engaging. FUN and safe.
– We provide you with the skills and knowledge.
PERFECT
– This phase involves perfecting the demonstration, activity, management principles, knowledge or explanation of the science to the point of ‘PERFECTION’.
– A specialist science teacher makes teaching and learning science look easy as they have experience. In this perfection stage, you will gain the confidence and competence needed to make your science integration look ….easy and smooth.
– We provide you with common ‘What if?” scenarios to draw upon if needed to support your performance / instruction.
PERFORM
– This stage is the actual performance to the class or group.
– Your practice should enable a smooth event! However, we will provide various possible scenarios to help you if they should occur. As experienced teachers know, FLEXIBILITY is the key and often intended outcomes may not always occur due to circumstances beyond your prediction or control.
PONDER
– This stage represents the ‘Meta-cognitive Reflection’ phase that most teachers do by innate nature.
– This is the phase the examines what worked, what needs modifying and how future activities can be modified to enhance student learning gain next time.
– This stage of course, then feeds into the planning phase to start our 5P cycle again.
– We provide suggestions that often crop up in these activities to aid future planning sessions.
This is not your typical teacher training session of watching a person explain concepts or activities to you as a large collective group (as is often done via typical video conferences). This is a NEW system that aims at improving your skill set and knowledge based around teaching methodologies.
