BRAND NEW and never before used!
Crazy Film Canisters are a great way to have FUN while learning about force, pressure, chemical reactions, variables and MORE!
We have sourced the BEST film canisters that REALY WORK! Don't be disappointed with ebay canisters made in China that leak or don't go high. Our canisters work every time and you can use them with water and Alkazeltza tablets, bicarb and vinegar or even test many types of liquids with bicarb. (if you want a TRUE experiment)
Always wear some safety goggles and use with an adult.
Film canisters come with NO printing. Why not do as we did and print a pattern or name on clear sticker film to decorate! Comes with an experiment sheet.
Age: 7+ (with adult supervision)
OK, lets go 5,4,3,2,1.... Blast off!
Recommended: We recommend our child coloured safety glasses when using this product. With adult supervision they are not needed, BUT we always conduct our science experiments with the highest degree of safety. Apart from being safe, they look SO cool!
Let's do an Experiment
Science Behind it Series
Quick Experiment “Which Fuel?”
- 5 x Crazy Film Canisters
- Several types of ‘fuel’ liquid (coke, vinegar, water, lemon juice)
- Baking Soda (Sodium bicarbonate)
Which liquid will react the best with baking powder and make the rocket go the highest?
- Mix some baking soda with water into a thick paste (toothpaste consistency)
- Line 5 Crazy Film Canisters in a line with the same amount of baking soda inside the lid.
- Add a different liquid into each film canister to the halfway mark.
- One at a time (wearing safety goggles), place the lid on the film canister and invert. Step back and wait to see if it launches.
- Record the height and then launch the next film canister. Complete all and compare heights.
Try the experiments in the experiment guides to investigate all matters of rocketing!
- Wear a pair of safety goggles and conduct experiment under adult supervision.
- Place film canister upside down with an extended arm (away from face)
This experiment is a simple way to investigate Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion.
‘For every action, there is an equal but opposite reaction’
The baking soda reacts with acids to produce a gas (carbon dioxide). So those liquids that contain acid should react with the baking soda and produce a gas that causes an increase in pressure inside the film canister. As the pressure increases (due to the tightness of the lid), it pushes down on the lid and also on the film canister. When the lid can no longer hold the gas pressure, the canister is pushed upwards into the atmosphere.
