 Spooky-Lab Science

• The Spooky lab looks at many spooky science concepts such as dry ice bubbles, fog cauldron, witch force field, mystery ghost writing and MORE!
• Using these theatrical demos, students learn about state changes, colour science, solution science, chemical indicators and MORE.

Hands-on explorations of ALL things Spooky

• Students engage in many stations that explore various science concepts in a ‘spooky’ theme. Some of the station activities include: – Little Devil’s Flute, Screaming Myrtle Balloons, Spooky Slime, Boo Bubbles and MORE.
• Children learn about sound, physical changes, optical illusions, brain anatomy, and pressure.

Gigantic Ghost Bubbles

• Children get inside a GIGANTIC bubble and learn about colour spectrum while dressing up in Spooky costumes.
• They participate in bubble domes, horse shoe bubbles and more.
• They get ‘Trapped’ in the Ghost force field.
• ALL bubbles are made with our super concentrate bubble solution that produces long lasting bubbles in all weather conditions. (No generic dish washing liquid bubble solution here). We use a complex mix of surfactants that is non-toxic and produce AMAZING bubbles.

Pumpkin Vomit Anyone?

• Make a BIG batch of pumpkin vomit.
• Learn about polymers while making flubber like slime with seeds, beans etc.

• Children get 15 gigantic pressure tubes to investigate how air moves from high to low pressure regions, used in lifts and more.
• Each pair use their pressure tubes to see who can master the power of Bernoulli and maybe even investigate the forces of motion by Newton!

Rockets & Gravity

• Children explore the powers of chemical reactions by exploding ‘Crazy Film Canister’ rockets into the air and then see how gravity pulls them back to the ground.

Imagine learning about science concepts such as refraction, EM spectrum, solutions, rainbows and more all while having FUN. Not possible you say…… well, it is in this workshop.

The Crazy Scientist uses gigantic bubbles and hands-on experiences to get the children learning about science from light, chemistry through to space all while allowing them to be inside a bubble, make their own bubbles and more.

We use our Crazy Bubble Juice to make incredible sized bubbles that lasts! There is no use of shopping washing detergent here, just a sophisticated chemistry mixture and the expertise of The Crazy Scientist.

Brain Blowing Bubbles:

• This sections explores the science of light, rainbows, colours, mixtures and even space while allowing the children to get inside a giant bubble.
• Everyone loves bubbles because it takes us back to our childhood. We use this innate enthusiasm along with the latest chemical mixtures and devices to “Sci-U-Tainâ„¢ the children in many areas of science and chemistry.

 

Crazy Geometric Bubbles

• The children explore how bubble film can be used to create a vast array of geometries: concentric domes, square bubbles, spiral bubbles and more in this exploration session.
• They discuss concepts such as types of shapes, minimal energy and surface tension all while making amazing bubble shapes and creations. Explore away!

Imagine investigating chemical reaction inside ‘Terrific’ test tubes.

Well, children in this workshop investigate crazy chemical reactions such as fizzing lava lamps and colour test tubes and foaming coke geysers and MORE! Get ready to get your hands wet!

This workshop uses ‘Terrific’ test tubes, ‘Super’ Test tubes and special designed tablets to investigate many areas of chemistry while wearing coloured lab coats and glasses! The children engage in 3 or 4 separate activities that allow them to actively experience the chaotic world of Chemistry while learning about density, chemical reactions, colour mixing and physical changes as coke goes flying into the air!

 

Fizzing Chemical Reactions

• Children examining the features of chemical reactions and conduct investigations into how reactions change when different amounts of chemical are added ALL while wearing coloured safety goggles!

Super Test Tube Lava Lamps

• Use the BIGGEST test tubes around that we call ‘Super Test Tubes’ to create lava lamps, some of which can even be used in the dark.

Physical Changes and Mentos Geysers

• TWO bottles are used to investigate how temperature affects the amount of gas released.
• Mentos Geysers are used to engage the kids and highlight the connection between temperature and gas solubility.

A great way to extend your talented kids and older vacation kids!

This workshop examines the crazy chemistry of acids, bases and pH. What they are, how they are measured and how they are applied to many areas of everyday life. From the foul fermenting insides of your stomach, the importance of pH in swimming pools, soil and how pH is important in many household substances. They learn about chemical indicators and actually test materials using indicators in test tubes.

pH Scale Demonstration & Indicators

• We use our Terrific Test Tubes to maker a massive pH scale like NO other.
• Coloured test tubes are used to demonstrate the idea of pH, Indicators  and MORE!
• We demonstrate explosive reactions of what happens when acids react with metals!

Testing pH of Household Substances in ‘Style’!

• The children examine various house hold substances using scientific equipment and chemicals while wearing our coloured lab coats and glasses.
• They use a chemical indicator and compare results to charts to determine the pH of each substance and produce colourful test tubes of specific pH.

Mystery pH vials

• Children test various ‘Mystery vials’ taken from sickening stomach acid juice, slippery saliva, saucy swimming pool water and smelly urine.
• They test samples and find out their pH. We explain how their pH relates to their use/function in the Crazy world of Science!

The Details

 Terrifying Killers and their Prey

 

Sabre Tooth Cat Skull REAL life sized skull of the Sabre Tooth Tiger (Smilodon fatalis) fossil.  Place your head next to it and even your arm inside its jaws and learn about how this magnificent creature caught its prey and used its adaptations (teeth, skull structure and body musculature) to take down large prey.	Life Sized Mammoth Femur You will learn about the Woolly Mammoth and similar sized extinct animals and stand next to our GIGANTIC fossil femur. This will really educate young minds on how BIG these creatures were.	BIG Woolly Rhino Horn   Our unique 1m Ice Age Woolly Rhino Horn is amazing.  This gigantic horn shows just how BIG this Rhino was and that it used it to defend from BIG predators.

 

 

The Great Dino-Skull Table

We have the largest amount of Dino Skulls around. We provide a dedicated table for the exploration of SIX  skulls all with hand lenses. Each dino skull comes with a detailed coloured HD info plate containing information the kids can understand.

 

 

 

 

 

 Info Plates that enhance learning

Kids need concrete visual and meaningful information with new information. Our plates contain the following features which enable all children to maximise their learning:

– coloured pictures of the dinosaur,

– visual scale comparisons

– essential information at a langauage approprite level.  

– some have measuring activities to challenge ‘inquiring minds”

 

 

 

Hands-on Dino Cast Table

This table explores various plaster cast fossils that illustrate ‘whole body’ fossils each with HD coloured plates. There are 16 fossils at this table with hand lenses to explore which is enough for the biggest group of budding paleontologists.

 

 

Mini-Dino Head Challenge Table

At this table, the children do more than just look or read. They explore the connections between skull structure, adaptations, food type and more through digging and classifying the fossil skulls into categories. They learn and investigate all while being active and exploring scientific concepts and with no mess, as we use Kinetic-Sand. (kids love that experience in itself!)  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We have recently added another Kinetic-Sand exploration table called “Prehistoric Skulls”. This activity is the same as the ‘Mini-dino Head Challenge’ table BUT they unearth many types of  extinct beast skulls such as Giant Killer Pig, Woolly Rhino, and many more.

For the really small dino-hunters (pre-schoolers) we had added several different Dino types that they make 3D moulds using kinetic sand AND coloured play-dough. Highly kinaesthetic (hands-on learning) and FUN! They explore types of dinosaurs, herding behaviour and stability of walking.

 

 

Tooth / Claw match-up table

This table is like no other! In the usual Crazy Scientist style, hands-on learning meets highly engaging materials and FUN. This table has a massive amount of teeth and claws to examine and classify.

The children examine the fossilised teeth and claws and find their ‘Dino Partner Card’ (again with HD coloured info). They learn about structure and function of claws and teeth, types of eaters (herbivores, carnivores, piscivores and MORE).

Not only do we have fantastic Dino Teeth and claws, but also other GREAT BEASTS such as:

Fossil Types Table

There are many types of fossils, even though most children think of fossil skeletons. It is at this table they explore the various types of fossils such as:

– Skin (we have two types of skin fossils)

– Hair (Real fossilised hair)

– Bone (Real fossilised Mammoth bone)

– Impressions (we have skin, footprints and plates)

– Dino Poo!

– Eggs

– Glyptodon Scute plates

Dino-Snot with a difference!

Forget cornflour slime here, it just does NOT cut it.  We want to make the BEST and most realistic snot around. What does Dino snot look like? Well we think it has the following features:

– Green (infected of course)

– Stringy

- Translucent

 

We use a special chemical that is 100% safe and non-toxic to make the stringiest and translucent slime. It really sticks to you and makes LONG stringy slime.

 

 

 

 

Like all of the workshops run by The Crazy Scientist^® , children get to take a FREE gift home that keeps them learning and being amazed by the wacky world of science.

Every child (6yr or older) get TWO REAL shark fossilised teeth to take home in a fantastic plastic test tube.  We don’t give the children a ‘pretend’ fossil that may rot away. (play-dough or similar), but a fossil that has lasted 5 million years and will last for many more years to come.

Depending on the location (you may find making Dino Snot is too messy for your caret), then we combine FUN learning with a dinosaur twist. We make Rock Strata Test Tubes in which we place your REAL shark tooth fossil. A great way to explore the fossilisation process while having FUN at the same time.
